Office Building Renovation, 2515 NC Hwy. 55 - Durham, NC
This is a renovation of a mid-century modern office building constructed in 1972. The building's design program was a complete renovation and modernization of the exterior skin, entry/lobby and elevator/core as well as new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The 1st and 2nd level lobbies, elevator and restroom cores were designed to accommodate several tenant configurations ranging from a single building tenant to four separate tenants.
The design of the building's exterior was simplified by removing the fins between each 2nd level windows, providing a clear unobstructed view to the wooded exterior surroundings. A new more prominent entry was incorporated as well as opening up the 2nd level building corners with glazing and the option of adding exterior 2nd level balconies.
